WRHS, VHS celebrate seniors with wins

For Warner Robins and Veterans, Thursday – at each of their respective schools – represented Senior Night.

For the Lady Warhawks, that meant recognizing two players: Lorelei Diamond and Ashley Dostie.

Once a team leader, always a team leader, as the first led the squad in aces – with four – and the second in digs – with 20 – as the girls beat First Presbyterian Day in three sets: 25-16, 25-14 and 25-19.

Alasha Heard also had 11 kills – most on the night and Izzy Coddington put up 27 assists.

Over in Demonette country, Warner Robins recognized seven: Kayla Moore, Parker Hogan, Sarah Spalding, Kayla Luke, Indira Canez, Shani Kelley and A’dora Pace.

The squad did have a bit of a tougher time at it Thursday, as they fell to Lee County in the first set, 25-13. However, they won the second set 25-12 and third 25-17.

“The girls played great last night once they got over their nerves,” said Head Coach Cassie Bennett. “Anna Slaughter (three aces, eight kills and a block), Kayla Luke (an ace and four kills) and Shakira Daniel (three aces and three kills) all played a vital role for us in the front row.

“I am extremely proud of the way they played last night.”

Moore also had a kill in the effort. Hogan had four aces and four kills and Hannah Luke had two aces.
