Perry beats Stratford, 3 Area foes

Undefeated in Area play and it just keeps getting better from there.

“We are playing with more confidence and consistency as a team right now.” So said Perry Head Coach Terri Hunt, whose girls swept Stratford 2-0 at home Thursday. The Lady Panthers won 25-19, 29-27.

As far as those aforementioned Area matches (the Lady Eagles from Macon not being one), the girls swept Spalding, swept Upson-Lee and West Laurens – all Wednesday at West Laurens.

Against Stratford, Leah Spears had a good night with six kills. Lativa Ray chipped in five and Chloe Marshall had two kills and two blocks.

They – with Marshall as setter, Spears as middle hitter and Ray as outside hitter – “are really playing well,” Hunt said, adding: “Hannah Hunt and Tay Ridley are very dependable with serves.
“I am very proud of my girls,” she said. “The effort and hustle on the court is awesome. I am amazed at some of the balls they are able to get to and make plays off of.”
