The first quarter belonged to the big-play people. The next three were Cory Munson’s. That is to say the junior kicker hit three field goals to provide all of Northside’s scoring – all of “both” teams’ scoring – during that span, as the Eagles beat Ware County 23-14 in Waycross.

After forcing Northside to punt on its first possession, the Gators got on the board via Raja Bradley’s 64-yard touchdown run. Robert Jacobs hit the point after to make it 7-0.
The Eagles took the ball on the 20 to start their next possession. A 79-yard touchdown pass from quarterback DeShawn Cumby to Dontravuous Odom didn’t keep it there long. Munson, his foot just warming up, made the point after.
Ware County put together a drive that went 48 yards from there. Dream Gainer finished it off from the 5. Jacobs’s PAT made it 14-7.

Both punted before Marcus Jolly ran 79 yards for the Eagles’ second score. Munson tied it with about two minutes left in the quarter.
See: the next three. Following a Ware County punt, Northside got close enough for him to hit a 51 yarder.
The Eagles again held on the Gators’ next possession. Northside then got close enough for him to hit one from 45 yards out. That made it 20-14, which is where it was at the half.
Munson added one more in the third. It was from 49 yards out.
Both teams proved to be pretty evenly matched. The Eagles rushed for 144 yards on 35 attempts. Ware County carried it 22 times for 120. Northside was 6-10 for 116 yards passing. The host went 14-28 for 130. All told it came out to 260 for the Eagles, 250 for Ware.
With the win, Northside improved to 4-1, while the Gators fell to 0-3.
