Defense helps lead Northside past Westside

*******RELIVE THE EAGLES WIN BY GOING TO THE HOUSTON HEALTHCARE REPLAYS TAB*******

Punt. Punt. Punt. Punt. Punt. Punt.

That ought to give you a pretty good indication of how things went for Westside in its 17-3 loss to Northside Friday in McConnell-Talbert Stadium.

Those six carried the Seminoles – and the game – to late into the second quarter. (Only turning it over on downs on the possession following broke the string.) By then they were down 10-0. The Eagles, following Westside’s first punt, took the ball on the visitor’s 30. That led to Jadin Daniel’s two-yard run for the score. Cory Munson made it 7-0 with 9:23 showing on the first-quarter clock.

The Seminoles did force Northside to punt twice in the first half. They also recovered a fumble, but they couldn’t do much with it … except punt.

Munson, just before the half, added a 23-yard fieldgoal to make it 10-0.

Both turned it over to start the third. The Eagles were the first to punt following that.

Westside seized that opportunity for its first score – a 31-yard fieldgoal from William Hoang.

Northside answered that following, starting on its own 34 and scoring on Daniel Neal’s three-yard touchdown. Mashburn made it the final score with his point after.

Of course that was still with the game in the third quarter. The fourth played out pretty much how it started – this time for both. Both punted twice and both turned it over on downs.

The win moved the Eagles to 2-1 on the year while the Seminoles fell to 1-2.
