Rutland, Lee County shut out Demonettes, Lady Bears

On the positive, Warner Robins was remembering – honoring – one of its fallen: Jane Gore, who tragically died in an automobile accident in 2004. (She had even signed with Middle Georgia College and was enrolled at the time of her death.)

On the negative, Rutland made the game ugly. It beat Warner Robins 6-0, limiting it to two hits in the process.

Those belonged to Holly Bass and Taylor Corley. The Demonettes did leave five on base, the other three reaching via error.

The Lady Canes on the other hand stranded 12. They touched up Kelseigh Henry for 12 hits while scoring two runs in the third, two in the fifth and two in the sixth.

Bailey Caldwell opposed her. In addition to limiting Warner Robins to the pair of hits, she struck out eight.

The loss dropped the Demonettes to 2-9 while Rutland improved to 5-3.

Elsewhere, Lee County shut out Houston County 2-0 to improve to 2-0 in Region 1-AAAAAA, 7-5 overall. For the Lady Bears, it was their first division loss against three wins. They are also 7-5.

Both of the host Lady Trojans’ runs came in the third. They out-hit Houston County just 4-3. Kenly Sullivan (1-2), Lauren Ross (1-3) and Hannah Otto (1-2) accounted for those. The Lady Bears also left eight on base versus Lee County’s three.

Rylee Lamb took the loss. She worked five innings, gave up the runs and hits, while striking out four and walking two. Olivia Brown worked a perfect inning in relief.
