Peach County edged Northside by a point Saturday in the Macon Touchdown Club Kickoff Classic held at Mercer University. The Trojans won 27-24.
They scored first on Nigel Manns three-yard run. That came after a Trojans punt to start the game followed by a turnover on downs by the Eagles and leaving the clock with just over two minutes to go in the quarter. Jonathan Nieto’s point after made it 7-0.
A 45-yard run by Jadin Daniels put Northside in a good position to tie it. It did, when Daniels connected with Eric Smith on a 15-yard pass. Cory Munson hit the point after.
Both swapped a possession again – the game moving into the second quarter – before Munson connected on a 41-yard field goal.
An interception gave Peach County the ball on the Eagles’ 11 with just 14 seconds left in the half. It didn’t waste the opportunity, scoring on a pass play from quarterback Jaydon Gibson to Alex Henton.

Nieto’s PAT was good to give the Trojans a halftime lead of 14-10.
Northside started the third with a long drive that ate up nearly seven minutes of the clock. Smith finished it off with a run from the 1. Munson’s extra point made it 17-14, Eagles.
Peach County took it back on a two-yard pass from Gibson to Noah Whittington. The PAT made it 21-17, Trojans.
Peach scored again a little later on a 57-yard drive. Gibson finished it off on a six-yard run. The PAT was blocked making it 27-17 in favor of the black and gold.
Later, a turnover gave Northside the ball on Peach County’s 35-yard line with just over five minutes left to play. It scored a short time later on Deandre McKenzie’s two-yard run. Munson added the extra point to make it 27-24, which was the eventual final.
