Perry puts up 20 in win over Schley; Lady Eagles win

The Mets scored 24 against the Phillies Thursday to set a new franchise record for runs. Perry probably didn’t add to its history, but it did score 20 in a win over Schley County.

The Lady Panthers pounded out 16 hits in all. They scored one in the first, six in the second, three in the fourth, six more in the fifth and four in the seventh.

The Lady Wildcats, it should be added, were not that far behind. They put 12 runs on the board and had 12 hits. They scored two in the first, three in the second and two more in the third to tie the game at 7.

Then they went ahead with three runs in the fourth. Perry tied it in the bottom half of the inning and keeping Schley County off the board in the fifth, went up for good in the bottom half of that inning.

Reagen Hughes pitched all six innings. She walk six in her outing. The Lady Wildcats used three pitchers in their effort.

Offensively, Abby Ussery was 4-4 with a walk. She drove in a massive seven runners – one of her hits a homerun and another a double – and also scored four times. Allison Peavy also had a homerun. She went 2-3, drove in five and scored once. Billie Simmons also earned five RBIs with her 2-4 performance that also included a homerun.

Also, Terra Odom was 3-3 with a walk, an RBI and four runs scored.

Elsewhere, Northside handed Mount de Sales its first loss of the year – five games in for the Lady Cavaliers. The Lady Eagles won 9-3.

Two four-run innings, the third and fourth, helped to say the least – their other run coming in the seventh.

Celena Luna went the distance for Northside. She gave up six hits – the Lady Eagles had 10 – while striking out four and walking three.
