Harris County takes 2 from Warner Robins; Perry falls to Mary Persons

Harris County loves the fourth. That has nothing to do with Independence Day unless you count the freedom of getting out of town early following two short-inning wins over Warner Robins – on Senior Night even.

The Lady Tigers beat the Demonettes 15-3 in the first game and 15-1 in the second. Both only lasted four innings and the fourth proved to be the back-breaker.

Harris County scored eight runs in the fourth in the first game and 12 in the second. It sent 12 batters to the plate in the fourth in the first game and 17 to the plate in the fourth inning in the second.

The first fourth was also one in which Warner Robins committed three of its five errors whereas the second fourth was one in which it committed two of its three, and began the inning by walking five of the first six hitters.

The Lady Tigers out-hit the host 14-5 in the first game and 9-2 in the second.

Amiya Holder had one of those hits in Game 1 – she was 1-2. She made the most of it, by driving in two. Holly Bass also went 1-2 and drove in one.

Zaida Carson had one of the hits in Game 2. The other – also accounting for the run – was a homerun by Ryla Christian.

The games were also of the Region 1-AAAAA sort. The Lady Tigers remained undefeated in that regard. They are 7-0, 17-5. Warner Robins on the other hand, fell to 1-7, 6-18.

Elsewhere, Perry out-hit Mary Persons 15-14, but still came up with the short end of the stick, 17-12.

The visiting Lady Bulldogs scored four in the first and one in the second. The Lady Panthers pushed one across in the first and took a 6-5 lead with five in the third.

That was short-lived as the visitor went back out front with three in the top of the fourth. Perry answered with three of its own but Mary Persons went out front for good with six in the fifth. The Lady Panthers got three back in the bottom of the inning but the Lady Bulldogs put up three more in the sixth.

There were 14 errors between the two – eight for the home squad, six for the visitor.

Avery Williams (2-4 with three RBIs), Emily Davis (4-5 with an RBI) and Emma Pruitt (2-4 with two RBIs) all had a homerun for Perry.

It was the last Region 2-AAAA game for the Lady Panthers. They finished 4-6 (10-13 overall) while Mary Persons improved to 7-3 (10-13 as well).
