Warner Robins was nearly late getting to the gym but mostly on time on the volleyball court.

The two matches it wasn’t, unfortunately, the opponent(s) took advantage. That would translate to Walnut Grove and Walker. The first – improving to 25-13 – beat the Demonettes 2-0. It won the first 25-18 and second 25-19.
Walker out of Marietta won 2-0 – improving to 26-7. It grabbed the first set, 25-19, and then narrowly escaped in the second, 25-22.
“Those losses were probably the hardest we have taken all year,” said Head Coach Cassie Bennett, “because we beat ourselves.
“The girls just seemed a little unfocused at times and made errors we don’t typically make. That really hurts when you play good teams.”
The action was part of the Collins Hill tournament played at Suwanee/Dacula High School Friday-Saturday. Warner Robins finished 2-2 and is now 17-7 overall.
It, Bennett said, had to “really rush” – the “nearly late” – to get there on time, but started out well enough. The Demonettes edged out the host 26-24 in the first set and then rolled in the second, 25-7. They then beat South Gwinnett 2-0, 25-14, 25-15.
And then of course, then came Saturday and those losses already mentioned.
As a whole, Bennett said, “Parker Hogan, Anna Slaughter and Kayla Luke really stepped up for us this weekend. Kayla Luke definitely came alive this weekend and showed that she can be the consistent player for her team to depend on.”
Kayla finished with four aces, 19 kills and a block while Slaughter had four aces, 18 kills and four blocks. Hogan finished with 11 aces, 11 kills and a block.
Also, Hannah Luke had seven aces and two kills, Kayla Moore had six kills and Shakira Daniel had three kills.
