Special teams lead Perry past Harris County

It was all about “big plays”.

Well … mostly, in Perry’s 49-22 win over Harris County at home.

Big-play-wise, Davion Ross accounted for two and two scores on kickoff returns. Together they averaged about 90 yards and combined 177 total. Je’Cory Burks also returned a blocked punt for a touchdown and the kickoff team recovered a fumble – one of six created by the defense on the night – for a score.

If you’re doing the math, that’s 28 points for the special teams.

The Panthers also got a score via freshman quarterback Lane Rucker en route to improving its record to 2-1 – just one shy of its entire win total from last year.

The Tigers on the other hand fell to 2-2 – 0-2 on the road. They got scores from Cal’von Harris – one yard – a pass play from Davion Mahone to Ak Wortham and another run – plus the two-point conversion.
