Veterans, HoCo sweep two

Veterans hosted two Tuesday and beat both. The Lady Warhawks beat Peach County 2-0 and Mount de Sales 2-0.

They completely dominated the Lady Trojans in the first game 25-0. However, Head Coach Marlene Rogers said, “they rallied and made the second game very close. It was an exciting match,” she said, with Veterans winning it 25-10.

Against the Lady Cavaliers, Veterans won the first game 25-12 and then edged out Mount de Sales in the second, 28-26.

Alasha Heard helped lead the squad. She had 12 kills and five blocks. Katie Reiff pulled in four digs and had six kills and Abby Cross served up 11 aces. Also, Sydney Hudson put up 17 assists.

Elsewhere, Houston County also took on two and also beat both. It beat Ola 2-0 and Woodland 2-0.

Against Ola, Maira Marsh had four kills, eight assists, three aces and three digs. Kennedi Moore had three kills, seven digs, a block and three aces. Izzy Luiggi had five kills, five assists and five digs.

Nikola Klapyk had two kills and Jaden Wilson 13 digs and two aces.

Versus Woodland, Marsh had five kills, four assists, and ace and a dig. Moore had four kills, two digs, eight aces and a block. Aubree Jones had two kills, Luiggi two aces, a kill and seven assists and Kodie Pollard two kills.

Finally, Wilson had five digs.

“The girls had a lot of energy and played solid ball,” said Head Coach Maria Huelsman. “I’m still trying to figure a few things out defensively, but things are looking great so far.”
