Warner Robins got off to a quick start against Locust Grove Friday in McConnell-Talbert Stadium. It was unable to sustain it throughout, but it proved to be what it needed in a 20-3 win.

Thirteen of the Demons’ points came in the first quarter. Following a three-and-out from the Wildcats – a team that by the way put up 44 points in beating Warner Robins last year – the ball was snapped over the head of the punter. The Demons recovered it in the endzone for a safety.
On Warner Robins’ next possession, quarterback Dylan Fromm connected with Julius Cobbs for a 42-yard touchdown pass. Markel Locke carried the ball in for the 2-point conversion to make it 10-0. That was with 9:08 left on the clock.
Jerquan Parrish intercepted a Locust Grove pass shortly after that. The Demons drove but eventually stalled. That brought in Eli Mashburn who kicked a 28-yard field goal and made for those aforementioned 13 points.
After both had traded possessions, Locust Grove got close enough for Jack Wilwol to kick a 38-yard field goal with four seconds left.
Warner Robins again came out strong to start the third quarter. It went 71 yards on five plays. The last of those – Locke also had a run of 19 – was a Jaeven West run of 32 yards for the score. Mashburn made the PAT. That was with 10:36 showing on the clock.
Both picked up some first downs and had some success moving the ball the rest of the way – there were also some turnovers and a blocked field goal by the Demons – but neither could score again.
The win put Warner Robins at 2-0 while it was Locust Grove’s season opener.
