Veterans shuts out Upson-Lee

“Respect everyone. Fear no one.”

That is what new Veterans Head Coach Milan Turner said he tells his players.

No doubt he means what he says and he says what he means, but Friday it was hard to tell the first due to the weight of the second. The Warhawks were simply fearless in beating Upson-Lee on the road 31-0. (Turner did add: “We’ll worry about ourselves. Do what we do and let the chips fall where they may.” That was true, too.)

Veterans, after a lightning delay of more than 30 minutes, scored its first touchdown in the second quarter. The point after made it 7-0, which is where it stood at the half. (To the Knights’ dismay, they missed a field goal and turned it over on a fumble inside the five.)

Sebastian Verger’s 48-yard touchdown pass with the point after made it 14-0 in the third. He later scored on a 15-yard run and with the point after made it 21-0. That’s where it stood at the end of the third.

The Warhawks added another touchdown and field goal in the fourth.
