Mary Persons runs away from Perry

It was the Quen Wilson, J.T. Hartage show – with help from their friends of course – for much of the first half, as Mary Persons rolled past Perry 47-21.

Wilson got things started early as the Bulldogs drove 77 yards on six plays. He finished the drive off from the one, and with the point after, made it 7-0.

About five minutes later, Hartage found Antoine Davis for a 60-yard pass and a score that, with the PAT, made it 14-0.

Then it was Wilson again, rambling 76 yards for his second score – one more to go.

That made it 21-0 after one.

Hartage then scored from the three to get the second started and then from 18 yards out about four minutes later. The point after was missed making it 34-0.

Wilson completed his trey following on a 12-yard run.

Finally someone else scored, Ladondre Buckner, after that. His was on a two-yard run. The point after was blocked making it 47-0, which is where it stood at the half.

The Panthers finally got on board with just over four minutes left in the third. Jay Watkins scored to complete a five-play drive.

Jonathan Williams, the game now early in the fourth, netted Perry’s second score on a five-yard run and Watkins, with 2:30 left to play, finished things off with a one-yard run for the score.

The loss – the fifth straight – kept the Panthers winless in Region 2-AAAA. They are 0-4, 4-5. Mary Persons on the other hand improved to 4-0, 7-2.
