Perry makes the most of walks in win over Crisp County

Perry had five hits in its 13-1 win over Crisp County Wednesday at home. Needless to say that’s a lot of runs in comparison to that number, even considering one of them was a homerun by Emily Davis and one a double by L.T. Reynolds.

The answer to the mystery – if indeed it could be called that: 11 walks.

Three came in the first inning – as did that homerun – and paved the way for four runs. Three more came in the second – as did the double – and opened the floodgates for five runs.

Two more came in the third. The first of the inning came to Ty Odom who ended up stealing home for run No. 10.

Two more, along with two hit batsmen, helped the Lady Panthers score their final three in the fourth – the Lady Cougars’ lone run also coming that inning.

Davis ended up 1-3 while Reynolds finished 2-3. Terra Odom and Annie Chance had the other hits – 1-1 with three walks for the first and 1-2 with one walk for the second.

Crisp County managed only three hits in the contest thanks to the effort of Allison Peavy. She also struck out five while walking two.

For Perry, it was its eighth win versus 10 losses. Crisp County on the other hand, fell to 6-12.
