Perry downs Northside; WR hammers Howard; VHS edges Dodge County

The first time Perry (4-5) and Northside met – back on Aug. 15 – the Lady Eagles won on the last play of the game. Monday, the Lady Panthers didn’t make that an option. Perry won 13-3.

Even a six-run inning seventh – such was the case last time – was not an option for Northside (6-6), as the game only lasted five. (Plus six runs would have still left it short.)

Six runs did play into the contest, however. Perry (4-5) used a six-run third to finally put some distance between it and its visitor.

That came in the third. The score was only 5-3 at that point. All of the Lady Eagles’ came in the third. The Lady Panthers scored one in the first and four in the second. They finished the game off with two in the fourth while setting Northside down in order in the fifth.

Perry out-hit the Lady Eagles 9-3. Terra Odom helped lead the way. She was 3-4 with two runs scored. Also, Annie Chance went 2-3 with a walk – one of those a double – while driving in three and scoring four times. Emily Davis also had a pair of RBIs while going 1-4.

Allison Peavy earned the complete-game win. She walked one and struck out two. Kylie Ussery took the loss. She walked four and fanned one.

Elsewhere, Warner Robins put up 16 hits in a 13-0 win at Howard. That game also only lasted five innings with the Demonettes pushing four across in the first and second, three across in the third and two in the fifth.

Megan Brown went 3-4 – one of those a homerun – while driving in two and scoring three. Holly Bass was 3-4 and earned four RBIs and Jordan Thomas 2-4 – one of hers a triple – with three driven in and one run scored.

Warner Robins improved to 4-8 with the win while Howard fell to 5-7.

Finally, Veterans scored two runs in the sixth to edge Dodge County 6-5. Both scored a run in the first. The Lady Warhawks went out front with two in the third and with one in the fourth led 4-1. But the Eastman host jumped out front with four in the fifth.

The sixth started off with a Sarah Wilkerson walk. Trinity Thiel singled her to third and Caitlyn Snellgrove’s sacrifice fly got her home. Thiel ended up being thrown out at home on Jenna Thomas’ fielder’s choice, but Thomas – able to get to second – was brought home on Kyndall Foster’s single.

The Lady Indians did get the first two hitters on in both the sixth and seventh, but a double play helped eliminate the threat in the first and a fly out, ground out and runner being caught stealing helped negate the second.

Foster finished 2-3 with a walk to help lead the offense. She also drove in one and scored twice. Skyler Welford was also 2-4 with an RBI and run scored an Thiel 2-3.

Emily Myers got the win. She relieved Jenna West (five hits, five runs, two Ks and two walks) and worked two and two-thirds innings. She didn’t allow a hit while walking two.

Veterans improved to 6-2 with the win while Dodge County fell to 7-4.
