To be honest, Warner Robins volleyball Head Coach Cassie Bennett said, some of the Demonettes might have actually been a “little intimidated at first when they saw how tall most of the Fayette County girls were.

“However,” she added, “they did a great job of pushing that out of their minds and still playing their best.”
In fact, it was the visitor that might have left intimidated. Especially after the Demonettes beat them 2-0 on scores of 25-16 and 25-14.
Indira Canez was one of the standouts, Bennett said, whereas Anna Slaughter finished with six aces, Hannah Luke had five, Parker Hogan four and Hannah Spalding three.
Luke also had six kills and Kayla Moore and Slaughter two each.
The win improved Warner Robins’ record to 6-0.
Elsewhere, it was a “disappointing” match for Veterans against Lee County, Head Coach Marlene Rogers said. “We just couldn’t seem to find our rhythm.”
The end result was dropping both sets, the first 25-20, the second 25-23.
The girls came up short, 2-1, in the nightcap to Whitewater, but Rogers said she was proud of how they responded against a “strong and big” team.
In fact, the Lady Warhawks won the first game 25-22.
“The team looked great,” during that span, said Rogers.
In the second game, Whitewater got “aggressive with their serves and we had a hard time making a pass.” As a result, Veterans lost 25-17.
The Lady Warhawks came out “strong” in the third game, going up 8-1 and forcing the visitor to call a timeout. The two then went back and forth, Rogers said, until Whitewater rotated in their big left-handed hitter back in to serve. “We struggled with passing that serve again,” she said, the girls falling 25-21.
Alasha Heard had eight kills to help lead the way against Lee County. Meredith Buchanan had three blocks and Maci Dykes three aces. Ashley Dostie had 18 digs and Izzy Coddington 12 assists.
Lorelei Diamond had a huge game in the finale, Rogers said, leading the offensive with 13 kills and three aces. Dostie made some “incredible reads” and picked up 15 digs whereas Meredith Buchanan led the blocks with two and Izzy Coddington the assists with 21.
