Houston County beat Coffee 6-1 at home Tuesday. The Lady Trojans finished with just two hits, but that and the final score were not indicative of the game.

For starters, the Lady Bears only had half of their 10 hits through four. Further, they only led 1-0 over the first two innings – a Megan Whitaker RBI-single in the first that brought in Madi Campbell, who had begun the inning with a single.
Coffee tied the game in the third on a homerun. Houston County took the lead back with a run in the fourth, but it wasn’t until the fifth and four runs that they were finally able to get some breathing room.
Whitaker finished 1-2 with a walk while Campbell was 2-4 with two runs scored. Grace Hardee had the only other multiple-hit day. She went 2-3 – one a double and one a homerun – while earning two RBI and scoring once.
Lamb’s work on the mound helped account for the two hits. She worked five innings while striking out three and walking two. Taylor Peebles worked and inning and two-thirds while striking out two and walking two.
The win put the Lady Bears at 4-2 while Coffee fell to 3-3.
Elsewhere, after a pair of losses – the latest an 8-5 defeat to Jones County Monday – put an end to Veterans’ good start (3-0), it got back on track Tuesday.
The Lady Warhawks (4-2) rolled past First Presbyterian Day 13-0 in five innings. It pounded out nine hits while scoring five runs in the first, one in the second and seven in the third.
Jalah Gainous had three of those hits. One was a double. One was a homerun as she went 3-3 and drove in five runs.
Skyler Welford also went deep with her 1-1 appearance – she also walked twice. Kaylee Brown also had a double while going 1-2 with a walk and an RBI and two runs scored.
The Lady Vikings only had two hits thanks to Madison Bussell. She pitched all four innings, walked one and struck out one.

Also, Stratford ended Northside’s four-game win streak with a 10-1 win. That one was close as well, with both scoring scoreless in the first, putting a run on the board in the second and then going scoreless in the third. The Lady Eagles broke it open with seven in the fourth and took it home with two in the fifth.
They out-hit the Lady Eagles, who were also hindered by five errors, 8-3. Deja Cheatham had two of those in a perfect day at the plate. She also scored the lone run.
Kylie Ussery took the loss. She worked four innings and gave up five hits and six runs. She struck out one and walked three.
Northside is now 6-5 while Stratford improved to 5-3.
Warner Robins finally ended its losing skid – one that spanned approximately seven games – with a 19-11 win over ACE.
Jordan Thomas went 5-5 with four RBIs and four runs scored to help lead the offense. Ryla Christian also went 4-5 with two driven in and four scored.
